Original post:

Okay people, I just wanted to say that I am still coding on Wizards. Can't let you down!

During my last coding sprees I did some code optimization and I reorganized the whole code base putting routines in according folders etc. It's much better now and I will be able to pick up some serious coding. Though, my bachelor thesis is knocking on my door and I am not sure when I can get time for this again.

Well, SPASM-X-64 (64-bit, Linux) now compiles Wizards. I am not sure what improvements that brings though :P .

All I do at the moment is getting that final thesis at university done. It pretty much started since my last post in this very topic. But the future looks bright: I am planning to get a job around april, work half a year and then continue my study (master) at some place yet to be decided on.
Sooo... expect updates in mai, or if work is too heavy, you will need to wait till october or something :hmm: .

Thesis is done today!!
But life is funny as always: the company that I did the thesis with said they have no work for me in those 6 month. I was SURE I could take up that job... now deep in the water again... Meh.

Edit: Vacation at least haha!

Wow congratulations on getting your thesis done, that's huge! I'm sorry to hear about the work though. I hope they aren't Wizards fans doing that just to get some new Wizards updates...

Updates! I redesigned all cards. They are now white on black at the bottom... And there are quite a few new cards, I also cut some. See for yourself in the attachment. I will implement the new cards soon... :D

I misread that as "This is done today." Raised my hopes for nothing :P

But anyway, I'm really glad you're still working on this. And those sprites really look great.

And that's too bad about the job. (Sorry, I came late to the topic.) Hope that leaves time for you to work on this though ;)

Would you rather like to:
  1. Win money, buy booster packs
  2. Win cards at a fixed drop chance from specific monsters/bosses
  3. Both
?

I really like the idea of buying booster packs. Both would be cool, though.

Those look great nano! I like buying booster packs too. Both would be cool, but I'd be just fine being able to buy a booster pack.

Updates
  • New heal and poison animations
  • Info box that says: "not enough mana/spheres"
  • Spheres get added after the execution of a spell

Currently I am working on a new quest system, so that bosses have better decks and drop money.

I like both ideas. =) Also, new screenie looks nice Nano!

I like both ideas too, where booster packs are expensive enough that the player has to rely on the dropped cards for expansion most of the time.

Update
  • cards now show used spheres as a cost, not as +X or -X
  • new card: Madness; cost: 3 mana; opponent discards two cards at random (uh that algorithm was very tricky!)
  • new card: Meditation; cost: 1 mana; draw a card, get 2 mana next turn
  • new card: Brainstorm; cost: 0 mana; draw two cards, discard one at random

Hah, finally got to work on this again!

Thanks. I'm at 46 different cards now, 4 more are on paper. I want to go to 60 in total or more so you can play a singleton deck (one copy of every card in the deck).
Coming up with those card ideas in one of the hardest jobs, which is another reason why Wizards takes so long to develop. I also playtest every card...

Aaand I just love to do pixel artwork :) .
